LET'S BE MERMAIDS - COPENHAGEN DAY3

Updated: Jul 7, 2019

This was the last day of Copenhagen #Alllooora3.0.

The day started at Joe & the Juice, in Skt Annae, which was very close to our Admiral Hotel. Joe & the Juice is actually a Danish brand that has expanded world-wide thanks to great fresh juices and consistent brand experience.

Day 3 was dedicated to exploring another area of Copenhagen. The street called Jægersborggade in the Nørrebro neighbourhood that has turned from dodgy to hip and is one of the hippest and most buzzing streets in Copenhagen at the moment. The feel is low key, with great energy and lots of quirky little shops and more in the making.

Vanishing Point. Studio of handmade by Sigrid Astrup.

One of the highlights of the street is the ceramics studio-shop of Inge Vincents. The artist was inside and we had a good chat. We even discussed dogs for some reason. Her style is very consistent: thin white clay in very fragile handmade shapes, mainly for homeware and also material for restaurants, hotels etc. She showed me pieces she had just made for a Danish restaurant that had commissioned for simple yet non-ordinary small nibble trays that looked like draped paper. I could not resist buying one to capture the moment.

Next is Palermo Hollywood 2.0. The store was empty at the time we visited but checking on the web afterwards it seems that this sorbet - colored condo serves as a location for pop up stores. On their website they say that Palermo Hollywood 2.0 is dedicated to colors - wild ideas - crazy ideas - mysterious ceramics - delicious products - sunshine - exotic flowers - tranquility in the stomach - and magical surprises.

Quircky shop after quircky shop you get a lot of exciting surprises. Like in Scooterfrøen, the second hand shop selling avant-garde stuff; I don't know how this silver metallic jacket escaped me btw.

Pitstop for coffee at Ro Chokolade. Very spartan but totally cool selling great coffee and handmade ice-cream.

More quirky shops in the making. Like this one: Banana. Not yet opened but with promising branding.

More handmade ice-cream. Istid' s cool pastel-colored gelateria screams handmade from the shop window.

You get the picture.

Following our Jægersborggade discoveries, we changed location to Indre By (the Inner City) to check out some of the hit Danish fashion brands. Norse was one of them.

Norse, Pilestræde 41, 1112 Copenhagen

Then Acne Studios. This is actually not a Danish but a Swedish brand. I love the story of its name though. ACNE started as a creative collective, the name of which was an acronym for Associated Computer Nerd Enterprises. Later on, this changed to Ambition to Create Novel Expressions.

Another cool and great value store for home stuff is Monday Sunday. This is housed together with high-street fashion Danish brand Norr, in Pilestræde street.

Sofie Schnoor for eclectic womensware.

Gossip for boho clothing, accessories and essences.

Gossip, Ny Østergade 10, 1101 Copenhagen

Next to Gossip is a restaurant by the name of Screw It

One restaurant which we left sitting on the bucket list is Asian restaurant The Market.

We finally chose the Danish restaurant Sankt Annæ to have lunch. The Matjes marinated herring was one of the best dining experiences I ever had in my life!

Late afternoon aperitivo at Danmark Hotel Rooftop bar (moment captured by Al).

Finally, let me give you some other options.

La Vecchia Signora is a nice trattoria in the Inner city, with alfresco dining if the weather permits.

Hotel L' Angleterre has a grand old school bar where you can enjoy very nice cocktails.

Zeleste is also a nice option in Store Strandstræde, a quiet street behind Nyhavn, specialising in small dishes and seafood in nice vibe. Better for dinner.

Last remarks:

Store Strandstræde street - the street of Zeleste - was actually the best of all. Store Strandstræde is a fully stylish street, quiet though close to Nyhavn popular location, very close to Admiral Hotel where we stayed. It was also the base of Emmerys great bakery and coffee spot where we had breakfast Danish-style. Apart from all that, it is also the home of numerous great boutique shops like Aesop and Kira-Cph and and has great vibe from start to finish. More than anything else it is great to walk though it to start your day, as well as end it.

Alllooora, Copenhagen is a very beautiful city and is great to visit for a 3-day city break.
